The girl behind the blog

I subscribed to a new parenting blog today that I absolutely adore called Running in Lavender.

I was looking through some of her past posts and I came across one called “20 Things About Me”. I love these types of posts – they help you get to know the person behind the blog a little bit better. We all love reading blogs that are more personal, that allow us a glimpse into another’s mind and another’s reality. When I read her post, I thought sharing a list of interesting info about your life is a fun thing for a blogger to do so I decided to do the same, here, for you!

So, here we go!

.I am originally from NYC. I have been living in Paris for 14 years – since I was 18 years old. It was my dream to move to Paris from the time I was 4 years old.

.I was inspired to start working with children with special needs because my little brother, Nicky, has Prader-Willi Syndrome. We created a “special learning house” environment for him in our home. He has progressed so much thanks to all of my mom’s work with him and I wanted to help make that kind of progress a reality for other special needs families too. I created my center Le Chemin ABA in 2008.

.I met my husband at a friend’s birthday party. I fell in love with him immediately. He asked my friend about me and she said “she is the nicest girl in the world”. I asked the same friend about him and she said “he is the nicest guy in the world”. The rest is our beautiful, romantic history.

.My husband and I love to cook and our guilty pleasure is watching cooking shows.

.I love my job  because I get to play all day!

.My favorite children’s books are Eloise in Paris, Lost in the Woods and Guess How Much I Love You.

.My favorite flower is jasmine.

.My favorite color is pink.

.I am a romantic – I love a romantic movie, love stories and my idea of a good time is reading marriage advice from elderly couples who have been married forever!

.My husband and I love our dogs – we take them with us everywhere we go. They have travelled all over France and to other countries! Meet Violette & Chou Chou.

.My husband and I created our very own signature recipe : duck confit and sweet potato mash. Find more of our signature recipes on our cooking & Parisian lifestyle blog : A Hedghehog in the Kitchen.

.My favorite wine is Pinot Noir from the Burgundy region of France. I also love white wine from Chablis and Tonnerre.

.My husband and I collect vintage china – we have vintage teacups, cake stands, pitchers, sugar bowls – you name it, we probably have it! We often feature parts of our collection in our blog photos on A Hedgehog in the Kitchen.

.I love all of the activities I do with the kids at Le Chemin ABA. Some of my favorites? Family yoga, gardening and photography.

.I adore writing and have kept a journal ever since I was a little girl. As soon as I learned to write, I began writing in my journal. I think journaling is one of the best ways to relax.

.My husband and I travelled to Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar for our honeymoon. It was the most beautiful trip I had ever experienced in my life. It was life changing! I can’t wait to go back to Asia.

.My favorite children’s cd is The Musical Adventures by Bobs & Lolo .

.My husband and I speak French with each other at home (my love is French).

.I studied at the American University of Paris – and absolutely loved it!

.My mom, sister and brother all live in Italy – in Viareggio- which is a wonderful place to get to visit them!
