50+ Easter Egg Filler Ideas for Kids with Autism (Easter 2025)

Easter is coming! I’ve made a list of of Easter egg filler ideas to help you plan a fun Easter egg hunt for your child or students with autism. Combine an Easter egg hunt for kids with autism with these Easter cut and paste activities for extra fun! Plan a fun autism Easter egg hunt!

What are your family traditions for celebrating Easter? We have quite a few in my family. One Easter when we were little, my mom hid my Easter basket in the oven and my sister’s Easter basket in the washing machine! We loved it so much that those funny hiding places stayed ours throughout our entire childhoods! This is one of our favorite, family Easter traditions. ♥

I also love Easter egg hunts. The kids at Le Chemin ABA love egg hunts so much that we continue doing them throughout the year, rather than just saving them for our Easter celebrations! The children love finding the eggs and opening them and we use the small items as therapy tools.

Autism-Friendly Easter Egg Hunt (5 tips)

  • Follow your child or students interests when choosing Easter eggs fillers. Autistic individuals often have specific interests and following their interests when choosing the items to put in the plastic eggs will make this activity way more fun for them!
  • Use your creativity. Have fun with this activity as well, use this list as a starting off point but feel free to add any other cool items you come up with!
  • Give appropriate physical prompts. If your little one needs help going to find eggs, or opening them, give them the help they need.
  • An Easter egg hunt can be a fine motor building activity! Picking up eggs builds and opening them, uses pincer grasp and builds fine motor skills. (If you need more fine motor building activities for kids with autism, get the fine motor autism activities bundle here!)
  • Plan the Easter egg hunt for one child or a small group. It will be easier to organize an autism-friendly Easter egg hunt for just one child you can help along the way or a very small group so you can give prompts and support as needed.
