Special Elf on the Shelf – a Christmas tradition

I am really excited to be writing to you about Special Elf on the Shelf – our new Christmas tradition. Have you heard of Elf on the Shelf? Some of the parents who come to my center have started the Elf on the Shelf tradition in their homes. This got me thinking… Wouldn’t it be fun to adopt an elf and have him do all kinds of funny and silly things here at Le Chemin ABA throughout the holiday season? Ummm, YES! Should we give him a name and his very own Instagram #hashtag?! Definitely. So, his name is Ralph. His talent is making special needs kids smile. His hashtag is #specialelfontheshelf !

This is how it works…

1/ Adopt your elf.

2/ Throughout the month of December, have fun making your elf do all kinds of silly things. (Make sure you laugh and giggle and play as much as possible with your kids during this time!)

3/ Use these moments to increase your child’s communication and play skills.

4/ Take lots of photos. (You are welcome to have your children in the photos or just your elf.)

5/ Post your pics on Instagram with the hashtag #specialelfontheshelf !

6/ Let’s see how many pictures we can share to laugh and play together all through the holidays!

Meet our Special Elf on the Shelf

Our elf is the classic boy elf with blue eyes. He arrived here in Paris in his adorable box complete with the Elf storybook! It was love at first sight for all the kids at my learning house.

Our Elf’s name :

Ralph

Ralph’s personality :

Naughty but nice.

Accepting of all children.

Loves animals – especially dogs!

Ralph’s favorite things :

Dogs (he gets along very well with Violette & Chou Chou)!

Hot chocolate

Homemade cookies

Coloring

Playing in tubs of cotton balls

Legos

Stickers

Ralph’s mission :

Outside of bringing Christmas cheer, our Special Elf on the Shelf, Ralph, hopes to increase awareness of all kinds of special needs. He also hopes to make kids laugh, help to reduce parents’ stress and increase general human kindness.

I can’t wait to see your Special Elf on the Shelf photos and share them with the kids at my learning center! We are preparing our photos now and I will start posting them on our Instagram page tomorrow, Thursday, December 1st. Follow our page if you haven’t already and share your pics!
