What is the Halloween Adapted Book?
The Halloween Adapted Book is a simple, printable book that includes real-life photos related to Halloween. Each page has a box and the child needs to put the corresponding photo in the box.
It is a simple and fun way to teach your little learners on the autism spectrum new vocabulary related to Halloween, turn taking and fine motor skills.

Materials to Make your Halloween Adapted Book
Making your Halloween adapted book couldn’t be easier!
All you need are a handful of simple materials that you probably already have at home or in your classroom or therapy practice.
- Free Printable Halloween Adapted Book
- Laminator
- Laminating Sheets
- Scissors
- Velcro (or sticky tack)
How to Make your Halloween Adapted Book
- Step 1 – Download the free printable adapted book.
- Step 2 – Laminate all the pages of the book so that they can be used again and again.
- Step 3 – Cut out the small images that will be used to fill out each page.
- Step 4 – Attach a piece of velcro inside each empty square, as well as to the back of each photo. (Alternatively, you can attach the photos inside each empty square using sticky tack.)

How to Use your Halloween Adapted Book
- Start the day with the Halloween adapted book
- Set up a small group activity
- Use it as an interactive bedtime story about Halloween

What Halloween Photos* are Included in the Book?

*I made sure to use photos that lean towards being cute rather than scary. This adapted book is appropriate for all ages, including very young kids.*
What to Teach with the Halloween Adapted Book
- Teach new vocabulary by asking the question “what is this?” for each photo.
- Work on taking turns by completing one page and then asking your child or student to complete the next.
- Build fine motor skills by having your child or student attach and pull off each photo.
