3 Easy butterfly crafts for kids with autism

I am a big fan of Spring crafts! I am actually a big fan of crafts any time of the year. I love searching the web to get inspired by other people’s craft ideas, as well as creating my own for my little ones at Le Chemin ABA. Today I am sharing 3 easy butterfly crafts for kids with autism

Aside from craft projects being a whole lot of fun, they also give us the opportunity to work on a wide array of skill sets with our kids, such as gathering the materials necessary for a project, following instructions and specific steps, taking turns, fine motor skills and receptive language skills.

I love these 3 easy butterfly crafts for kids with autism!

♥ Easy Coffee Filter Butterflies
♥ Easy Clothespins Butterflies

Work on these skills with easy butterfly crafts for kids with autism :

♥ Gathering the materials necessary for a project.
♥ Following instructions.
♥ Following specific steps.
♥ Taking turns.
♥ Building fine motor skills and strength.
♥ Develping receptive language skills.

Easy Coffee Filter Butterflies Craft

Coffee filter butterflies from Honey + Lime.

These adorable butterflies are easy to make with materials that you probably already have in your home!

You will need : coffee filters, water colors and colored pipe cleaners for this sweet children’s project.

Easy Clothespin Butterflies Craft

Clothespin butterflies from B Franklin Crafts.

This project is darling! These little butterflies would make great bedroom decoration. You can also add a magnet behin the butterfly if you’d like to hang it on the fridge.

You will need : some tulle, craft glue, rhinestone stickers, acrylic paint, scissors, clothespins and pipe cleaners to complete this project.

I love the idea of using tulle with children with autism because it has a very interesting texture. When we tried this project, my little ones loved it. This project is very simple and fun! Each step focuses on building fine motor strength too, from painting the clothespin, to bunching the tulle, opening and clipping the clothespin, curling the ends of a pipe cleaner, gluing everything into place and decorating the clothespin with rhinestone stickers!

Easy Cupcake Liner Butterflies Craft

Cupcake liner butterflies craft from Crafty Morning.

You will need : cupcake liners (you can choose all different kinds of fun colors and patterns for this project!), clothespins, glue, glitter and string/yarn.

This project is – you guessed it – super simple too! What I love about it (other than the fantastic result!) is the folding of the cupcake liner that is necessary to create the wings of your butterfly. This is a specific movement that works towards building fine motor strength and hand control and precision (often difficult for our littles on the autism spectrum). Finding / creating activities that produce this specific movement can be tricky!

These 3 projects are so much fun! I hope you will try them with your little ones and let me know all about how it goes in the comments below! ♥
