Gluten-free spiced popcorn recipe – our favorite snack at Le Chemin ABA

This weekend at the Le Chemin ABA Learning House, we had fun making some rather unusual popcorn ! On Saturday, after working at the table, working in the garden and doing some social and money management skills building out and about in the neighborhood, my little helper decided he would like to make some popcorn. But not just any popcorn… As our Saturday snack, we decided to turn away from the traditional butter and salt variety of popcorn and to try something new !

I let my little helper choose the ingredients for our popcorn concoction. I gave him the option : sweet or spiced and he chose spiced.

We headed over to the Le Chemin spice cabinet in our kitchen which the kids use for cooking and baking nearly every day.

He choose to use the following spices to make our special popcorn :

  • Paprika (1 teaspoon)
  • Tumeric (1 teaspoon)
  • Yellow curry powder (1 teaspoon)

We measured out our popcorn portion so that it would be just right for our machine :

We have a vintage style popcorn popper at Le Chemin that the kids love ! Here it is :

While the popcorn was popping, my husband helped guide our little helper to melt 125 g of butter in a saucepan on the stove. Together, they added salt (for the famous butter and salt combination!) as well as the various spices that our little helper had chosen and put aside for our cooking project.

Here’s the final product :

It was a delicious combination of aromatic spices ! We wrote down our recipe and added it to our Le Chemin ABA Learning House “Recipes Binder” so that we can remember how to make it again in the future.

We really enjoyed it!

Happy Sunday everyone and get excited for your new week !
