Hi dear friends! Today I am sharing 3 of my favorite, fun water activities to do with your child this Summer!
It has been a while since I have written and I have missed you all… a lot! I took some time off from writing to change the format of the Special Learning House blog. My goal with this blog is to bring you the most useful information to create the best possible programs for your children with special needs at home. I wanted to figure out the best format for the blog which will help me do just that! I searched different blog themes and plug-ins and have updated the blog to its current format. I have added new information to the sidebar which will hopefully make it easier to find exactly what you are looking for so that you can put in place wonderful activities with your little one right this moment! 🙂
The new sidebar categories are :
A collection of resources to help you find all of the information that you need right now for your autistic child. I am still adding resources to each category. In any case, this list will never really be complete! As I discover and test new resources with my little ones at ly center, I will keep adding to this list. Current categories include : books, speech & language tools, materials for teaching fine motor skills, everything you need for cooking with kids and general therapy tools.
All the learning tools you need to teach your child right now!
All kids of ideas to help you decide what is important to teach your child : your child’s learning goals.
A lot of children on the autism spectrum are following special gluten-free diets and the recipes I select and create in this space will serve to help families follow these special diets with their kids.
Moving as a family, having fun and creating beautiful memories are family goals that I hold dear to my heart! This part of the blog will help you find great outdoor activities to do with your child to encourage learning, fitness and fun.
Weekly featured educational and therapeutic tools
Above and below these categories, I have added sections to the blog sidebar where I will share a featured educational and therapeutic tool each week. These are materials that I own and have used with the children at my center. I am part of the Amazon affiliates program and will receive a small commission if you choose to purchase through my link. I have installed a plug-in that will redirect you to your closest Amazon site depending on where you live to purchase your products. Money made from these links will go towards buying new materials for the children at my center, Le Chemin ABA.
This week I am featuring the Super Sorting Pie game. This is one of my favorite learning games for building fine motor skills teaching turn taking and colors and just having a great time! I have been using it for years and highly recommend it!
Thank you so much for following this blog! It means the world to me to have your support. YOU are the reason I write this blog. Knowing that programs I write about or materials I recommend help you put in place activities that help your child progress makes my day every day!
Now it’s time for 3 fun water activities to do with your child this month!
This activity involves water, chalk, a chalkboard and lots of giggles! It is a great sensory activity and a wonderful way to work on letters and handwriting.
Just write some letters in chalk on a chalkboard and guide your little one to trace over them using a paintbrush dipped in water! This activity is guaranteed to be more fun than traditional writing exercises!
Seashells, water and mini fish all come together to make this activity really delightful for your child! On top of the really fun and exciting wwater play aspect of the activity, the shells make a beautiful noise when they clink together which adds another element of sensory fun to this activity.
I love this idea! Get all of your child’s little plastic cars out and create a car wash activity. This activity combines the sensory pleasure of water play with a fun functional activity (actually cleaning the cars!).
These 3 fun water activities are sure to delight your child and provide him or her with hours of sensory play!
What are your favorite fun water activities?
Do you have fun water activities that you use with your child that you would like to share?!! I would LOVE to hear about them! Your comments absolutely make my days and I jot down all ideas in a therapy room notebook and try them with the kids! Thank you!
